Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri, located in the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, INDIA, is a remarkably preserved 16th-century fortified city that served as the capital of the Mughal Empire for about a decade under Emperor Akbar.

Built between 1571 and 1585, Fatehpur Sikri is the first planned city of the Mughals. Constructed primarily of red sandstone, it is a brilliant synthesis of Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. The site features a series of majestic complexes, including the Buland Darwaza (the “Gate of Magnificence”), the Panch Mahal (a five-story palace), the Jama Masjid (a grand mosque), and the serene Tomb of Salim Chishti.

The ideal time to visit is from October to March. During these months, the weather is pleasant and cool, making it comfortable to walk the expansive grounds. It is best to avoid the summer months (April–June), when temperatures can become extreme and harsh for outdoor exploration.

Arrival Logistics: Official public parking is available, and it is recommended to use the government-run shuttle buses or registered e-rickshaws to travel from the parking area to the monument gates.
Guide Scam Alert: Be cautious of individuals approaching you near the gates claiming to be “official guides.” To ensure a fair and high-quality experience, only hire government-approved guides who display an official badge.
Comfort: The complex is quite large and requires a significant amount of walking. Wear comfortable footwear and bring a hat and water.
