Understanding the Yellowstone Caldera’s Global Volcanic Context

The area opposite the Yellowstone Caldera is in the southern Indian Ocean, near the Kerguelen Plateau. This region, which emerged around 130 million years ago, is home to several remote and active volcanoes.
