SRI LANKA

The following are the heritage sites, grouped into recommended gateway cities. This may help in planning on the logistics (travel and accommodation) of your journey.

COLOMBO (CMB)

Colombo, Sri Lanka’s coastal capital, is a dynamic blend of colonial heritage and soaring modernity. Visitors land at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) and are greeted by a skyline transformed by the Lotus Tower and the Port City expansion. The city’s heart remains Galle Face Green, a seaside promenade famous for sunsets and spicy isso vadai (prawn cakes). Travelers explore the chaotic charm of Pettah Market, the red-striped Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, and the serene Gangaramaya Temple. With a world-class culinary scene featuring Ministry of Crab and street-side Kottu Rotti, Colombo is a vibrant, multicultural gateway to the island.

SIGIRIYA (GIU)

Sigiriya is the pulse of the Cultural Triangle. It remains a traveler’s favorite, dominated by the towering Lion Rock fortress. The town has matured into a sophisticated hub of eco-tourism, offering jungle-glamping and farm-to-table dining experiences. From sunrise hikes up Pidurangala Rock to witnessing wild elephants crossing the main roads at dusk, Sigiriya offers a perfect blend of high-adventure and ancient mystery. It is the most strategic base for visiting Polonnaruwa, Minneriya, and the Dambulla Cave Temples.
