Shuri Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Okinawa, is undergoing reconstruction after a devastating 2019 fire. Visitor numbers are steadily recovering, supported by public access to restoration work. Efforts include roof tiling with traditional Ryukyu tiles and plans to open an underground wartime bunker to tourists by 2025.
