Every year since 1978, UNESCO has added new natural and cultural places to its World Heritage sites list and the organization is expected to announced its newest additions for 2022 soon. In order to preserve locations’ “outstanding universal value”, the accolade provides enhanced protection against climate change and human development, as well as educating people about why these places are so special. From Korean tidal flats to a scenic Iranian railway, here are some of the latest additions.
