Austria – Historic Centre of Vienna

Vienna is an amazing city. The architecture is as impressive as the city itself. There are many amazing buildings, both historic and modern that will take you breath away even if you’re not particularly fond of architecture.

Several modern and contemporary buildings that come to mind include the new campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, which is located at Welthandelsplatz 1, 1020, Haas House, which is located at Stephansplatz 1010 Wien and Uniqa Tower located at Untere Donaustraße 21 1020.

Of course we cannot write about architecture and Vienna and not mention the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna City Hall, Hofburg, the Belvedere and Karlskirche. If you love architecture, then Vienna should definitely be on your bucket list.

However, Vienna is much more than that, it is a city that is buzzing with culture, delectable cuisine, beautiful places to see and lots of things to do. What is even more impressive is that there are many free things that you can do while visiting this European gem.

See them before they vanish: Europe’s most under-threat heritage sites; Chris Harris; Euro News

Austria – Historic Centre of Vienna

A communist monument in mountainous Bulgaria, an ice factory in England and an art nouveau casino in Romania are among Europe’s most endangered heritage sites, say campaigners.

Campaigners have today sounded the alarm over Europe’s most under-threat buildings and monuments.

Europa Nostra, a pan-European cultural heritage federation, released a list of seven sites it considers endangered.

Maestro Plácido Domingo, the group’s president, said the “rare treasures” were in danger of being lost.

Europa Nostra says its list is intended to be a “catalyst for action” and that sites it had highlighted in previous years have now been saved for future generations.

England: the UK’s ‘oldest ice factory’

The ice from the factory was used to preserve fish in ships in Grimsby, once one of the world’s largest fishing ports. It is now in a state of serious decline, say campaigners, and plans to secure its future have yet to find funding.

Austria – Historic Centre of Vienna

At the gateway to the Balkans, the Austrian capital is one of Europe’s most important cultural centres! Here are the best neighbourhoods to stay in Vienna.

Vienna is the capital of Austria. With a population of 1.8 million and home to major international institutions – such as OSCE, OPEC, IAEA and United Nations agencies – it is the largest German-speaking metropolis in the world after Berlin. Staying in Vienna is expensive, but to visit a city that attracts 3.7 million visitors a year, and a city that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, is a priceless opportunity.

Divided by the Wien and the Danube rivers, – the former capital of the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburgs – Vienna is the main economic, cultural and political centre of Austria. The city comprises many neighbourhoods with many places to stay in its 23 districts. Below is a non-exhaustive list to make your stay in Vienna a success.
