As a province in the northeast of Vietnam, Quang Ninh is likened to a miniature Vietnam. The west leans against the mountain, the east slopes down to the first half of the Gulf of Tonkin with a coastline of about 250 km, many estuaries. Quang Ninh has land and sea borders with China. On the mainland, the north of the province is bordered by Guangxi, China; to the east is the Gulf of Tonkin; the West borders the provinces of Lang Son, Bac Giang and Hai Duong; bordering Hai Phong to the south.
