Nepal lobbying to keep Kathmandu on world heritage list; South Asia Monitor

After the UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee (WHC) proposed listing Kathmandu valley as a ‘World Heritage in Danger,’ Nepal is set to lobby to maintain the Valley’s world heritage site status, the Himalayan Times reported on Thursday.   A Nepali team comprising Mohan Krishna Sapkota, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Damodar Gautam, DG in the Department of Archaeology are finalising the presentation they will make at the WHC’s 43rd session in Baku, Azerbaijan, from June 30 to July 10.   The WHC had listed Kathmandu valley as ‘property proposed for inscription…
