The UNESCO World Heritage Centre claimed in a written response to the New Macau Association that it is keeping a ‘close eye’ on the conservation of the Macau SAR’s heritage properties
Macau (MNA) – The UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC) claimed in a written response to the New Macau Association (NMA) that the Centre is keeping a ‘close eye’ on the conservation of the Macau SAR’s heritage properties and the Urban Master Plan.
In a note released by the Association on Sunday, it also stated that the WHC director, Mechtild Rössler, ‘assured’ that they will monitor the works of the updated report on the state of the city’s Historic Centre, due by the end of 2018.
In the report sent to the international organization, the NMA highlighted that some areas have not been included as ‘visual corridors’ – subject to special protection – such as Penha Hill and the new reclaimed land Zone B, located on the eastern side of Macau Tower.
