UK – The English Lake District

Theatre by the Lake is thrilled to be working alongside the Lake District National Park Partnership in producing a special community event on 26 March to celebrate the Lake District’s recently awarded World Heritage Site status. His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, has been confirmed as the guest of honour and will be unveiling the official UNESCO plaque at the event at Crow Park.

TBTL will be providing cultural entertainment as part of the celebrations, including a performance by Olivier Award-nominated actress Elizabeth Mansfield from upcoming spring show Hymn to Love – Homage to Piaf, a piece from hit Christmas show The Secret Garden performed by Theatre by the Lake’s Young Company, and an excerpt from Melvyn Bragg and Howard Goodall’s world renowned Cumbrian musical The Hired Man performed by St Herbert’s Primary School.

Members of the community are invited to attend the event and join with TBTL and the Lake District National Park Partnership in marking this special day for the Lake District.
