THE WORLD’S best beaches have been revealed, and one beach is much closer to home than you might think.
In a review of the world’s best beaches, Bournemouth Beach has been named 14th, and fifth in a round up of European beaches.
The UK favourite outranks world famous beaches including the Seychelles, Australia, Turkey and Sicily.
Hayley Coleman, a spokesperson for TripAdvisor said: “Year after year UK beaches continue to beat many others located in exotic destinations around the globe, proving that it’s not just good weather that makes a cracking beach.”
“Even with the lack of hot weather that the UK is known for, our beaches still stand up as some of the best rated in the world”.
Taking the prestigious title of the world’s best beach, is the Grace Bay in Providenciales.
With seven miles of golden sands and turquoise water – it’s not difficult to see why.
Having been granted UNESCO world heritage status, the Baia do Sancho in Brazil takes second place and the Varadero Beach in Cuba comes in third.
