A UNESCO World heritage site, Rani ki Vav is a stepwell that dates back to the year 1063 when it was commissioned by Rani Udayamati in memory of her husband King Bhimdev I of the Solanki dynasty. After being flooded by the Saraswati river, the stepwell was excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India only in the 1980s.
