Vietnam – Ha Long Bay

Last minute change in plans and a multi – city flight booking later, we were headed off to Hanoi. A 5 hour bus ride which costed 2, 00,000 VND (Vietnamese Dong) took us to Halong Bay, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the most spectacular places in the world. But we had not reached our destination yet. A ferry ride from Halong city pier took us to the largest island in Halong Bay and our home for the next 2 days, Cat Ba Island.

The ferry ride to Cat Ba provided us the first glimpse of gigantic limestone rocks that pop out of the emerald waters of the bay, truly a one-of-a-kind natural wonder. A bus ride took us to Cat Ba town, the commercial hub of the island. Our room was on the 6th floor just facing the bay.
