Unesco mission highlights Machu Picchu’s excellent state of conservation; Andina


Peru – Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu

Unesco’s Reactive Monitoring Mission stressed the excellent state of conservation of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and the high level of coordination among all institutions involved in its management in order to respond to recommendations made by the World Heritage Committee.

This group of experts assessed the state of conservation and the implementation of observations made during a field visit through Machu Picchu district, Machu Picchu Llaqta, Santa Teresa district and the Amazon access, located in the Cusco Region province of La Convencion.
On the first day, experts toured Machu Picchu town to gauge solid waste management in situ and assess the prevention/disaster risk reduction plan and district’s urban organization scheme.
